Hi everyone, it’s my turn to blog . Yesterday we were in Ocho Rios. Gabs woke up not feeling very well - she was nauseous the night before and the avomine I gave her had not helped. So the two of us stayed in our room and caught up on some well needed sleep. We (HGN) had gone to a dance party in the promenade the night before – the theme was Dancing in the Street – 70s music. It was fantastic. There is so much to do and I can’t get to sleep at night – going to shows, dancing, etc.
Anyway, back to our 70s party – everyone comes to the promenade and they put on a show with the music blaring and you can just let your hair down and dance to your heart’s content!! No inhibitions. They had the “Village People” as one of the acts and then they joined us afterwards – really great bodies and I had a dance with the cowboy – a big black man. My mother would have been proud!!!
Back to Ocho Rios – Gabs and I eventually got to the little town and met up with BBN. We weren’t there very long and Gabs still wasn’t feeling great so Brad walked her back to the ship to rest for the rest of the day and Benj went to his activities. Nat and I walked around the shops and tried to bargain – we found it incredibly difficult as we felt so sorry for them. Brad came back to meet us as he had organised for a man to do a charcoal painting of the kids. Oi vey – was he duped. The picture looks NOTHING like our kids so it ended up being a donation!!!!! Had a good time and eventually got back to our ship in time to leave.
Chilled out before dinner – we are going to roll off the plane when we get home. Three course meals for dinner. It makes me sick just thinking about what we are consuming!!!!! I can’t look at the buffets – I don’t like buffets at the best of times. We have had room service for breakfast and also have been to the dining room. I can’t stand the smell of the eggs – uuuugggggg. After dinner we all have a different dessert so that we can taste them all. We are such pigs!! During the day if you are hungry you can go to the buffet alternatively you can get food from two cafes – delicious pizza, salad, marinated feta, and antipasta. Yesterday they had a lovely nicoise salad. In the other café they have rolls with fillings – yesterday was smoked salmon and cream cheese (very nice) or the usual ham and cheese….
Anyway, back to last night. Tried to have an early night – got back to our room where Natty put on a show! I can’t sleep and watched tv till Brad got back from the casino at 2:45a.m. He had a good night!!
There is such a good vibe on the ship. We have met lots of different people – you don’t tend to see them much because there are so many people but have managed to bump into some of them a few times. There are quite a few South Africans on the ship, crew included. Met Israelis, New Yorkers, Mexicans, etc.
Today we are going to chill at the pool – the first opportunity we’ve had. It’s amazing what they put on here – we check the timetable each day and plan the day accordingly – from shows in the theatre, to ice skating, to walking around the shops in the promenade, taking Benj to his adventureland, eating, touring when in port. There is no chance to be bored.
Till next time ……..
